FAQ

WHAT EXACTLY IS A UGT?
UGT stands for “Unioverse Gamer Tag.” It is a name, handle, or callsign that you can use as your display name in any Unioverse game. Your UGT also can be used as your creator name when you create a level, hoverbike, sword or other Unioverse objects. Once you own a specific UGT, no one else can use it.
WHAT CHARACTERS ARE ALLOWED IN A UGT?
a-z (both uppercase and lowercase), numbers, underscores, and periods. Note that you cannot use more than two underscores or periods in a row.
ARE THERE CHARACTER NUMBER LIMITS?
Yes. UGTs must be longer than 3 characters and less than 24 characters.
THE NAME I WANT WAS DEEMED OFFENSIVE. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?
We do not allow potentially offensive names such as curse words, slurs, hate speech, sexual innuendoes, etc. If you attempted to enter a name like that, our system will not allow its registration. We use an AI to detect offensive names. AI is not an exact science and sometimes it can get things wrong. In fact, waiting an hour and trying again will sometimes result in a different outcome. If you feel the name you want was deemed offensive, but you disagree, you can contact us.
SOMEONE IS USING A VERY OFFENSIVE NAME AS THEIR UGT. DOESN’T YOUR SYSTEM PREVENT THAT?
Our system is fairly good at automatically detecting offensive names, but it is still a robot after all and isn’t perfect. If someone has registered a name you find offensive, you can contact us. Please know that even if the robot failed to detect an offensive name, if some of our humans see it and agree, we’ll take appropriate action. So please don’t attempt to fool the robot.”
WHEN I ENTERED THE NAME I WANT, I WAS TOLD IT WASN’T AVAILABLE. WHY NOT?
It’s likely already been purchased. You will need to come up with a variation or another name. Or you can attempt to find and buy it from OpenSea.
IT SAYS THE NAME I WANT IS RESERVED. WHAT’S THAT MEAN?
We have a small list of specific names held back and reserved for V.I.P.s in the community and internal developers. These names could be released later at our discretion if not claimed. But for now, you will need to find a different name or try a variation on that name.
WHERE CAN I USE A UGT?
UGTs will be supported for any and all games and applications released using our SDK. Your identity is yours across all Unioverse games and software.
CAN I BUY MORE THAN ONE UGT?
You can buy and own as many as you wish.
CAN I SELL UGTS?
Yes. You own each UGT in your wallet. UGTs can be sold on OpenSea.
WHY ARE DIFFERENT NAMES DIFFERENT PRICES?
Our system assesses a desirability score on names, which is reflected in their price. For example, our system will identify “Viper” as more valuable than “_.V.I.P.3.R._” You can use this to your advantage by making small variations on a name to find the version that fits the price you want to pay.
I DON’T UNDERSTAND PURCHASING. WHAT’S A “PROTEN?”
When you go to buy a UGT, you can reduce the currency price (dollars or crypto), buy spending some Protens. Protens are like “frequent flyer miles” that we award to players who participate in our games and community. They are easy to earn. Find out more in our article.
